– The Fourth Plinth –

For our Augment project we spent the morning discussing the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square, which is left empty, commissioning different art pieces to be featured for a number of months at a time. We each looked at a different feature – I decided to look at Antony Gormley’s live exhibition which was 100 days long, having selected people stand on the plinth for an hour each, dressed how they like and to do whatever they want – the selected people were used in order to portray the diversity and vulnerable within our current society, using this in contrast with the historical monuments on the other plinths. Gormleys intention was to get as many people of different ethnicities and of different parts of Britain to take part – having 2400 feature.
